Estate Planning
Estate planning involves several components. You will need to consult an attorney for the legal details of making sure your wishes are carried out upon your death. Financial planning involves having a financial advisor review your assets, including investments, retirement savings, insurance policies, and real estate or business interests. Once an inventory is taken of your finances, you may be in a better position to work with your attorney to determine the answer to three questions:
- Whom do you want to leave your assets to when you die?
- Who do you want to handle your affairs should you become incapacitated?
- Who would you like to make decisions for you about your medical needs?
Proper estate planning can allow you to better manage your investments and savings, plan for your own elder care and help ensure your family receives your assets after death. Read more about estate planning.
